Commodore's Reception
The club’s summer season began briskly over Memorial Day with a crowd of about 70 celebrants at the annual Commodore’s Reception, hosted by Commodore Tom Penn. The event on Saturday doubled as a wine and beer tasting to acknowledge the imminent arrival of both items this summer in the marina store.
The reception, which served a selection of 10 wines and three beers, was scheduled to end at 7 pm. It did not end on time.
Coast Guard Inspection
Earlier in the day, a crew from the Bayfield Coast Guard station conducted volunteer, on-site inspections of 15 club members’ boats. (Check the dates on those fire extinguishers, please.)
Given wider interest in the inspections, and the coasties’ limited time last weekend, another round of inspections might be scheduled later in the summer.
Much in Store
The marina store is being revamped, rearranged, and restocked, partially to accommodate the new coolers for wine and beer, and partially to display a wider display of food to complement the usual stocks of marine supplies, clothing, and hardware. One new arrival: sausages & cheeses from Vollwerth’s — owned by our club members — Ron & Beth Fisher. The menu is expected to evolve and expand over the summer.
Also, for the convenience of members & guests, we now have an ATM cash out in the hallway of the main marina building, with the relocated ice fridge.
