Marine Repair/ Service Technician — Full Time Position Available
The Madeline Island Yacht Club is located on Madeline Island, part of the Apostle Islands, in Lake Superior along her southern shores in Wisconsin. With 170+ slips, MIYC is a year-round, full-service marina, which has earned the reputation as the premier marine service center on Lake Superior. We are the only MerCruiser and Mercury Outboard certified service center in the area. We strive to keep our technicians at the forefront of the industry with MerCruiser/Mercury and ABYC training and certifications, safety, and equipment training as the opportunity to work in all aspects of the marine industry.
In our 4,000 sq. ft. indoor facility, with a 35-ton Marine Travel Lift, 45’ man-lift and Marine Hydro-Hoist trailer, we offer year-round service and repairs, from runabouts to 50’ sailboats and 80’ motor yachts. Our technicians can expect to work on inboards, outboards, sterndrives, repair fiberglass and gelcoat, paint, brightwork, custom fabrication, electrical systems and electronics, plumbing, rigging, etc.
As a Yacht Club with 140 members and guests, customer service is our highest priority.
The Marine Repair/ Service Technician’s scope of responsibilities will include:
Diagnose, research and submit parts requisitions and repair a variety of marine systems
Work in a clean, efficient, and orderly fashion
Perform duties in a professional, timely manner and communicate with management
Effectively transition between multiple work-orders and update BiT marine management software accordingly
Work as part of a shop team with one goal of customer service
Work in a variety of conditions, weather, space, and physical constraints
Qualifications
Minimum 3 year marine service experience
Mechanical background
Electrical knowledge
Valid driver’s license
Basic mechanics tool set
Technical school or similar training and certifications preferred
Strong work ethic, communication skills and a willingness to learn and grow
